Orange Carrot Moctail

Ingredients: 2 Oranges (Nagpur variety) OR 4 Mosambis 4 Carrots 1/4 cup Lime juice 1/2 tsp Salt 1 tbsp Honey 1/8th cup Mint leaves 1 Lemon slice Ice cubes Method: Grind the carrots to make juice, yielding approximately 200 ml. Juice the oranges (or mosambis) to obtain approximately 200 ml of juice. Alternatively, use store-bought orange juice. In a tall glass, add 3 to 4 ice cubes. Pour 100 ml of carrot juice and 100 ml of orange (or mosambi) juice into the glass. Add honey and lime juice to the mixture, and stir well to combine. Garnish the mocktail with mint leaves and add a slice of lemon to the rim of the glass for decoration. Serve the refreshing Orange Carrot Mocktail as a party starter, a healthy summer cooler, or as an after-school drink for kids. Enjoy this delicious and nutritious beverage

Strawberry Vannila Float

Ingredients Strawberry Crush - 3 to 5 tbsp Vanilla ice-cream - 2 scoops Lime Juice - 1 tbsp Sugar syrup - 2tbsp Crushed ice - as required Rock salt - 1 pinch Sprite or 7-UP : 200 ml   Method In a tall glass, fill with crushed ice. Pour in the strawberry crush and lime juice along with the sugar syrup. Sprinkle rock salt and top it up with Sprite or 7-up. Finally float the vanilla ice cream and serve chilled.

Party Menu recipe posted by Rohini Renganathan Ingredient Pineapplejuice - 200 ml  Pineapple crush - 2 tbsp Mint leaves - 4-5 nos  Crushed ice - as required Lime juice - 2 tbsp Sugar syrup - 2 tbsp Chaat masala - 1 tsp Method : In a tall stemmed glass, place a bed of the crushed ice.  Pour over the blended mix of the pineapple juice, Pineapple crush, mint, lime and sugar syrup, and chaatmasala. Serve it chilled.

Fruit Punch by Uma Sridharan

Party menu recipe by Uma Sridharan Ingredients : Pineapple Juice 1 ltr Orange Juice 1 ltr Grape Juice 1 Ltr Ginger 250 gms Lime juice 250 ml Sugar 1 kg   Method Scrap ginger and grind it in mixie. Extract the juice. Mix all other ingredients. Keep it refrigerated. While serving mix it with soda and serve. Instead of lime juice limca can be used.

Vannila Lemonade - An all time favourite recipe

Ingredients: Lemon - 8 nos Sugar - 2 cups Salt - 1 pinch Water - 1 cup Mint - a few leaves Vannila syrup Method: Remove the peel of 2 lemons slowly with a sharp knife. To remove the bitter taste, remove the white patch inside the skin. Cut the peel into thin strips. Boil the peel along with sugar, salt and water for about 5 mins. Close the pan and boil for another min. Remove from flame and add mint leaves. Leave it for about 15 minutes. Drain the syrup and let it cool. (For faster cooling, it can be even placed in freezer). Squeeze out the juice of lemons. Add a pinch of salt to it. Mix both the lemon juice and syrup and store it in airtight bottle and store it in fridge. (This stays good for about a week to 10 days). While serving add 5 parts of water to 1 part of sugar or soda. Add one or two drops of Vannila Syrup on top and place a lemon rind on the rim of the glass.

Spicy Hot Apple Cider

Ingredients: Apple Juice - 8 cups Cinnamon powder - 2 tspns Nutmeg powder - 2 pinches Cloves - 4 nos 1 Orange Cinnamon sticks - 2 nos Whipped cream - 1/2 cup Method: In a sauce pan heat the apple juice, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder, cloves and orange slices. Cook in medium flame till the mixture is hot, stirring occasionally. Remove from flame and transfer it to another vessel while still hot. Garnish it with cinnamon sticks and whipped cream. Great appitizer drink.

Tomato cucumber Juice

Ingredients: Ripe Tomato - 2 nos Cucumber - 1 no Celery - 1 small (optional) Curd - 2 tbsp Pepper powder - 1 pinch Salt - 2 pinches Sugar - 1/2 tsp Mint leaves - 1/4 cup Method: Grind tomato, cucumber, celery stick, pepper powder, curd, sugar and salt. Add 1 cup of water to it and serve in tall glass. Decorate the glass with finely chopped Mint leaves. (Mint can be made into paste too and added on top).

Strawberry Pineapple Mocktail

Ingredients: Strawberries - 8 nos Pineapple Juice - 1 cup Sugar - 1 tbsp Mint leaves - a few Salt - a pinch Method: Cut 6 of the strawberries into 2 or 4 and arrange them in a plate and freeze them for about 2 hours. (Alternatively you can use frozen strawberries too). Add the cut pieces and sugar in a blender and crush them. Add pine apple juice and salt and blend well till the mixture becomes smooth. Serve chilled in a tall glass by decorating the top with mint leaves and fresh strawberries.

How to make Nannari Sherbet at home

Though there are many brands of Nannari Sherbet available in the market, the syrup can be made at home very easily. Ingredients: Nannari roots (Sarasaparilla roots) - 100 gms Water - 5 cups Sugar - 5 cups Lemon - 6 nos (big) Method: Break the roots into small pieces (Say 1 inch piece), Spread the roots in a paper or clean cloth and dry well in hot sun for a day or two. Crush the roots and remove the hard part inside. Dry grind the roots to a fine powder. Boil water and when it bubbles remove from flame and immediatly add the powder and mix well. Close and leave it for about 10 to 12 hours allowing the sediments to settle at the bottom. Strain using a muslin cloth in a clean vessel. Add sugar to the water and boil again stirring constantly so that the sugar doesnot settle at the bottom. The liquid should reach a sticky consistency. Remove from flame and add lemon juice which acts as a preservative. Store in a clean airtight bottle. How to serve: To 1/4 cup of syrup

Juices and its benefits

Juices are made from fresh fruits and vegetables. Juices. Juices are something liked by both young and old alike.  Why it is better to take juice?      Many kids and some adults dont like to take fruits and vegetables raw which are rich in minerals and vitamins. It is better to make those fuits and vegetables as juices and have them to get the minerals and vitamins from them.        It makes the skin glow and shiny.       It increases the energy levels.       Fresh juices are better than cold drinks. Cold drinks harm the body.        Juices help in diminishing the toxin loads in our body.        For those vigorous dieters juice diet helps in reducing food craving and helps in staying away from junk food.

A juice recipe that gives lots of nutrition

Ingredients: Carrot - 2 nos Beetroot - 1  Black Pepper Powder - 1 tsp Mint leaves - 1/4 cup        or Mint Paste - 2tbsp Salt to taste Sugar 1 pinch Cashew - 1 no Badam - 1 no Method: Soak Badam in water for a while and peel the skin. Cut carrot and beetroot into cubes.  Grind carrot, beetroot, cashew and badam in a blender. Add 2 cups of water and strain it. Mix in salt, sugar and the black pepper powder.  Garnish it with mint leaves and serve chilled. Good to improve the HB count in blood.

How to make Grape Juice at home

Grape juices made with black grapes are too good to taste and also too good to look at too.  Ingredients: Grapes Black - 1 handful Sugar - 2 tbsp Method: Grind grapes in a juicer grinder (specially the grinder which have juicer with strainer). Pour it in a tall glass add sugar to it and mix well. Have it fresh added with one or two ice cubes.

Appy Magic - A healthy recipe for Pregnant Women and kids

An apple a day keeps doctor away. A pregnant woman needs lots of nourishment during her entire period of pregnancy. Some women due to their morning sickness will not eat a lot. For them, this drink is a great boon and this can be had immediatly after preparing. Ingredients: Apples - ripe and unsour - 4 medium sized Sugar - 1/2 tbsp (better substitute with Honey) Lime Juice - 1 tbsp Ice cubes - 1 or 2 (optional) How to make Appy Magic: In a juicer blender, grind the apples (if the juicer have its own filter the better, if not the juice have to be strained using a muslin cloth). Blend it till it is smooth and a fine paste. Add the lemon juice, sugar or honey and mix well. Serve with the ice cubes. This juice is to be made immediatly after cutting the apples so as the nutritional value in it is not lost. The dash of lime juice will help in getting releived from morning sickness. Recipe for Dates Milk shake

This is one recipe which is rich in Iron and Calcium. Kids will love it for sure. Ingredients to make 2 cups of dates milk shake: Dates - 1/2 cup (without seeds) Sugar - 4 tbsp Milk - 2 cups Ice cubes - 2 Vanilla Ice cream - 1 scoop Method to make dates milk shake: In a blender add dates, sugar, 1 cup of milk and grind it till it frosts. Pour in 2 tall glasses to half the level and add milk to remaining half and add 1/2 scoop of ice cream in each of the glasses. Can be served with wafers.
