This is one of the unique dishes that could be made using banana. Can be had as a side dish for rice if it is made a little thicker or can be mixed with rice and eaten with pappad or fryums.

Raw Banana - 2 nos medium sized
Onion - 2 nos big or 4 nos medium
Thuvar dal - 1/2 cup
Sambar powder - 1 tsp
Asafodeita - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Tamarind paste - 2 tbsp
Curry leaves - 1/4 cup
Salt to taste
Oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Broken Urad Dal - 2 tbsp

Pressure cook thuvar dal and mash it well. Peel and dice raw banana into small cubes. Chop onions finely. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds and when it splutters add urad dal. Add curry leaves to it and mix well. Add onions and mix well. Add asafodeita, turmeric powder and mix well. When the onions turn soft and glossy, reduce the flame add the banana pieces and mix well. Add salt and mix well. Add 1 cup of water to tamarind paste and add it to the pan. Cover with lid and let it cook for about 10 mins or till bananas get cooked and become soft. Add the cooked thuvar dal, another cup of water and mix well. Bring everything to a boil in medium flame. If you want it to be thicker boil it more. If you want to mix it with rice, add another cup of water.

Can make it without onions also.
