Another appetizer thogayal. Ingredients: Thuvar Dal - 2 tsp Urad Dal - 2 tsp Channa Dal - 2 tsp Pepper - 1 tsp Dry Ginger - 1/2 inch piece or Dry Ginger powder - 3/4 tsp Red Chilly - 5 nos Tamarind - small gooseberrry size Gingely oil - 3 tbsp Salt - to taste Curry leaves - 1/4 cup Method: In a pan heat oil add all the three dals, red chilly, pepper and asafodeita and roast them till they turn brown. Remove from flame and spread it on a plate and let it cool. Cut tamarind into small pieces and add it to the hot pan along with salt. Grind tamarind and red chilly first to a coarse paste. Add the roasted ingredients along with dry ginger and curry leaves and grind it again. Add salt and asafodeita and make a fine paste. Can season with mustard seeds and urad dal. |
