A spicy and hot side dish. Can me made for a rainy and chilly day. Ingredients: Green Chillies - 10 nos Shallots - 6 nos Tamarind paste - 1/2 spoon Urad dal - 1 tsp Curry leaves - a few Coriander leaves - a few salt to taste Asafodeita powder - 1 tsp Gingely oil - 3 tsp Method: Heat 2 tsp of gingely oil in a pan. Fry till it turns golden brown. Remove it from the oil. Add green chilly onion and saute for a while. Grind it along with tamarind paste, half of curry leaves, coriander leaves and salt to a fine paste. At the end add the fired urad dal and grind it again. Heat the remaining 1 tsp of gingely oil add mustard seeds and when it splutters add the asafodeita powder and curry leaves. Add it to the ground paste. Makes a great side dish for steaming hot idly and soft dosas. Note: Depends upon the size of the chillies and the spiciness of it the total number of chillies can be reduced or increased. |
