Though the method I make might be a common one, I do want to share how I make it on request of a few of my friends and cousins who have had it before. Garlic Cloves - from 2 garlic Gingely Oil - 6 to 8 tbsp Vathakozhambu Podi or Sambar Powder - 4 tsp Tamarind Paste - 4 tbsp or two cups of tamarind water Curry Leaves - a few Salt to taste Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp Bengal Gram Dal - 1 tbsp Hing powder - 1 tsp Method: Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and when they splutter add the bengal gram dal and garlic cloves. When the cloves are fried add sambar powder and fry that in the same oil till it emitts a nice aroma. Add salt and 2 cups of water and tamarind paste and mix well. Bring it to boil and let it reduce.
