Paruppu Pooranam - Bengal gram sweet mash

Poli is sweet chappathi that is made during festivals like Bhogi, Avani avittam. It is one of the dish that is must during mapillai azhaippu in any South Indian Brahmin marriage. One need to do pooranam to make Poli. There are two kinds of sweet pooranams one can make. Here is how to make paruppu pooranam. The other one is Thengai Pooranam

Ingredients:
Bengal Gram Dal - 1  cup
Jaggery - 1/4 cup
Cardamom Powder - 1/4 pinch
Grated coconut - 3 spoons

Method:
Pressure cook the dal and mash it or grind it thoroughly. Add jaggery, cardamom powder and grated coconut to a pan and heat it till the mixture mixes thoroughly.
