Ingredients: Green Mango - 1 medium Sambar Powder - 2 tsp Tamarind Paste - 2 tbsp Toor Dal - 1/2 cup Kopra - 1/4 cup Dry Red Chillies - 2 nos Curry Leaves - few Coriander Leaves - few Gingely Oil - 2 tbsp Salt to taste Mustard seeds - 1 tsp Hing - 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp Method: Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan add 2 tbsp of toor dal, kopra and red chillies and fry for a while remove cool and grind them to a fine powder. Pressure cook the remaining thoor dal with a pinch of turmeric powder. Mash well. Peel and chop the mango to small cubes. Add 1 1/2 cups of water to tamarid paste, mix well add turmeric powder and salt and bring it to a boil. Reduce the flame add sambar powder and mango pieces. When the mango pieces becomes tender add the ground powder and reduce the flame. Add the mashed thuvar dal and mix well. In a seasoning laddle heat oil and add mustard seeds and when it splutters add hing and curry leaves and fry for a while. Pour it on to the sambar. Chop the coriander leaves finely and add it to the sambar and cover well. Serve hot with rice and ghee or with Pongal or Arisi upma too. |
