Inji Thogayal by Jyotsna

Ingredients -
1 big piece of ginger (peeled and grated or cut into small pieces)
1 fistful of ulutham paruppu and thuvaram paruppu
1 small (kottai) paakku size tamarind
few black peppercorns
3-4 red chillies
salt to taste
a pinch of asafoetida

For seasoning -
mustard seeds and a few curry leaves

a) Dry roast ulundhu, thuvaram paruppu, peppercorns and red chillies
b) roast ginger with little oil
c) Grind all of the above with salt and tamarind to form a fine paste.
d) season mustard seeds and karuveppilai with enough oil adding a pinch of hing

Serve with hot rice and lots of ghee..
