Pathiya Samayal Contest Entry by Jyotsna Ingredients - 1 big piece of ginger (peeled and grated or cut into small pieces) 1 fistful of ulutham paruppu and thuvaram paruppu 1 small (kottai) paakku size tamarind few black peppercorns 3-4 red chillies salt to taste a pinch of asafoetida For seasoning - mustard seeds and a few curry leaves Method: a) Dry roast ulundhu, thuvaram paruppu, peppercorns and red chillies b) roast ginger with little oil c) Grind all of the above with salt and tamarind to form a fine paste. d) season mustard seeds and karuveppilai with enough oil adding a pinch of hing Serve with hot rice and lots of ghee.. |
