Ingredients: Masoor Dal - 1 cup Tomato - 2 nos Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp Cumin Powder - 1 tsp Green Chilly - 2 nos Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp Hing - 1/2 tsp Tamarind Paste - 1 tbsp Salt to taste Gingely Oil - 2 tbsp Coriander - 1/4 cup finely chopped Method: Wash and soak the dal for 15 mins. Chop the tomatoes finely. Pressure cook dal, tomato, turmeric powder and salt with 2 cups of water for about 4 whistles. Add 1/2 cup of water to tamarind paste to make thick pulp. Add a pinch of salt and bring it to a boil in low flame. When the dal is cooked, remove from flame and add it to the tamarind water. Slit one green chilly and add it to the dal. Add jeera powder and mix well. When it comes to a boil remove from flame, add chopped coriander leaves. Heat oil in a tadka laddle, add mustard seeds and the remaining green chilly and pour it on the dal. Hyderabadi Khatti Dal is ready. This can be served with hot rice or Roti and Chappati. |
