Making fresh powder out of ingredients and making milagu kuzhambu is always tastier but at the same time, for all those who want to make it in a jiffy due to lack of time and also due to fear in cooking traditional dishes, this is a very easy method to make. This recipe can be tried by bachelors too. Ingredients: Milagu Kozhambu powder - 3 to 4 tbsp according to taste Tamarind Paste - 8 tbsp Water - 1 1/2 cup Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp Salt to taste Oil - Better Gingely oil if not any other cooking oil of choice. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp Bengal Gram Dal - 1 tbsp Method: Add 1/4 cup of water to the Milagu Kozhambu Powder and make it a thick paste. Add the remaining water to tamarind water and make it thin. In a hard bottom pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds when it splutters add the bengal gram dal and saute for a while, when it turns golden brown, add the tamarind water. Add turmeric powder and salt and bring it to boil. When it boils add the Milagu Kozhambu powder paste and mix well so that no lumps are formed. In medium flame boil it till it becomes thick enough and or when the oil starts floating on top. Serve hot with Keerai kootu or potato curry or roasted pappad. |
