Something hot and spicy for a rainy day. But this can be had any time of the year. Make it and store it and can be had as a side dish for dosa, arisi rawa upma and curd rice.

Green Chillies - 50 gms
Shallots - 50 gms
Tamarind paste - 2 tbsp
Gingely Oil - 8 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Broken Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste

Wash and remove the stem of the green chillies. Cut them into equal rounds. Chop the shallots finely. Add 1 1/2 cups of water to the tamarind paste.

In a shallow pan add oil and when it is hot add mustard seeds. Add the urad dal after the mustard seed splutters. When the urad dal turns golden brown add the cut onions and green chillies and saute for a while. Add the tamarind water and salt and bring it to boil in a medium flame. When the oil starts floating on top remove from flame and add finely chopped curry leaves.
