Gooseberry Pickle

Gooseberries are very good for health. Now a days there is no chance for any one to eat it raw and relish it. But hot and spicy pickles are welcomed by many. As this pickle gets spoiled easily, it is better to make lesser quantity. 

Ingredients:
Gooseberry - 250 gms.
Salt to taste
Methi seeds - 1/4 tsp
Red Chilly powder - 1 tbsp
Hing/Asafodeita - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Gingely oil - 1/4 cup

Method:
Pressure cook gooseberries with salt and turmeric powder. Use just 1/4 cup of water. Once cool remove the seeds. Heat oil in a hard bottom pan. Add methi seeds and saute a little, add the goose berry. Saute well so that all the gooseberries are coated with oil. Add hing and red chilly powder and mix again. Reduce the flame and saute for a while till the raw smell of chilly powder is gone. Check for salt and add if necessary. 

Serve with curd rice or arisi upma or puliya dosai or even chappathi.
