Goanaese Paste to make Goanese Gravies

Recipe adapted from Tarla Dalal's. Adapted to the taste of our family. 

Onions - 2 medium sized
Oil - 1 tbsp
Khus Khus (optional) - 2 tsp
Cinnamon - 2 nos
Cloves - 3 
Black Pepper corns - 4 to 6 nos
Coriander seeds - 2 tsp
Red Chilly - 3 nos
Coconut freshly grated - 3/4 cup
Garlic - 8 nos

Slice the onions thinly. Heat oil in a pan, add the poppy seeds, cinnamon, cloves, pepper, coriander seeds and red chillies. Saute on medium flame without burning it till all turns golden brown in colour. Add the coconut and saute till the coconut turns gold. Switch off the stove and add the sliced onions and garlic to the pan and saute in the heat of the pan. 

Let it cool and grind to a fine paste using very little water.
