Though the name states Aval Idly, the quantity of Aval used is quite sparingly. This is to give softness to the idly. Ingredients: Boiled Rice - 2 cups Urad Dal - 1/2 cup Aval or Poha - 1/2 cup Salt to taste Method: Soak all the ingredients separately for 4 hours. Grind them to a fine batter and mix salt. Let it ferment for about 8 hours. Make idlies in regular moulds. Variations: Fry broken cashews, green chillies and channa dal and mix with the batter and make soft idlies. |
