Savouries and snacks that are served in the road side, especially in the North India are called chaat. It literally means, lick them and eat them with noise. They are made using a mixture of potatoes, dahi, onions, toamatoes, dried mango powder, jeera, kala salt, gram dal or chick peas, spices and masalas. The chaats form the part of the Uttar Pradesh cuisine though now a days they are available all over India. The influence of Portugese bought in buns and breads to the chaat.
