Aadi Perukku

The 18th day of the month of Aadi (Aashada) is celebrated as Aadi Perukku. In olden days, people prepare a vareity of mixed rice and travel to the places where there are plenty of water, pray to the water beds for giving them water supply through out the year both for domestic use and for irrigation purposes. All the water bodies are treated as the incarnation of the holy rivers of India. Now a days, due to the stressful life and less water bodies, the prayers are offerred to the water bodies in the house either the well or the bore well and the dishes are made and had at home after offerrring to the God.
